CHEMICAL HAZARD
DATA TRUST
STEWARDSHIP COUNCIL

With the stewardship model we aim to realize a “new social contract” where organizational leaders, stakeholders, and users act in concert to achieve financial sustainability, an ambitious human and environmental mission, and service to the public interest.

CHEMICAL HAZARD DATA TRUST

ChemFORWARD is a science-based, non-profit organization turning chemical hazard data into positive impact. We manage the Chemical Hazard Data Trust. Digital centralization of chemical hazard data has many benefits including increased efficiency, better quality and consistency, and lowered access costs.

Historically, successful digital hubs have spurred monopolization concerns as they may lead to inefficiencies, lack of innovation, and higher prices. ChemFORWARD is proactively addressing this risk by developing a multi-stakeholder stewardship model of governance for the Chemical Hazard Data Trust to ensure sustainable and enduring operations, leading science and technology, and social impact including fair and equitable access.

Chemical Hazard Data Trust
Stewardship Council

Throughout 2024, we will be  assembling the Chemical Hazard Data Trust Stewardship Council, a multi-stakeholder governance body with representatives who serve three key pillars:

  1. Economic: Sustainable and enduring operations

  2. Technical: Leading science and technology

  3. Mission: Human and environmental impact, equitable access

Each pillar will be supported by a committee made of stewardship council members, staff, partners, users, and other key stakeholders.
